The Constitutional Court of South Korea is set to begin the impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk Yeol on Tuesday.

Reports indicate that the court will determine whether to remove him from office over allegations linked to a failed martial law attempt.

A spokesperson for the Constitutional Court confirmed the proceedings to AFP.

“It has started,” the spokesperson stated, noting that the first of five scheduled hearings concluded shortly after commencement, with Yoon absent from the session.
