Impeached Edo LG Chairman Blames Governor for Removal

Paul Iyoha, the former Chairman of Esan Central Local Government Area in Edo State, has accused Governor Monday Okpebholo of masterminding his impeachment.

Iyoha is the latest in a series of LG chairmen to be ousted, following similar removals of leaders from Egor, Owan East, Uhunmwonde, and Orhionmwon councils.

Iyoha argued that the impeachment process was unjust, claiming he and other council leaders were denied a fair hearing.

He insisted that his political support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, during the previous gubernatorial election was the real reason behind his removal.

According to Iyoha, the governor’s personal grievance over his political allegiance led to his suspension from office.

The ex-chairman described the governor’s actions as political retaliation, stating that Governor Okpebholo openly declared he would not be reinstated due to political opposition.

Despite this, Iyoha remains hopeful that the judicial system will fairly address his case, PM news reports.

Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of Ovia South West Local Government, Edosa Enowoghomwenma, along with all the councilors, has defected to the ruling APC.
