A new initiative, the “Ikale Club,” was officially launched on December 27, 2023, with the inaugural meeting held at the Salem Guest House in Ilutitun, the headquarters of Ikale West Local Council Development Area.
The club, aimed at promoting the comprehensive development of Ikale land, is open to residents and Ikale individuals in the diaspora.
Non-Ikales who have significantly contributed to the area’s development are also encouraged to join.
Dr. Bamidele Fagbohunka, the Convener, highlighted the club’s purpose, stating, “Ikale Club is dedicated to promoting intellectual, social, cultural, sporting, and recreational interests for the overall development of Ikale land.”
Membership is based on principles of openness and non-discrimination.
As outlined in their statement, “Membership is open to all adults, regardless of sex, race, religion, or origin, provided they have a clean criminal record. Good character, integrity, and physical, social, and mental fitness are essential.”
The club emphasized a non-political, non-religious, and non-tribal approach, aiming to create a diverse and inclusive community.
Its objectives, according to the statement, include promoting intellectual, social, cultural, sporting, and recreational activities among members.
In addition to fostering community connections, the Ikale Club expressed its commitment to charitable causes. “To contribute to and cooperate in the furtherance of the objectives of charitable institutions” is one of the outlined goals.
