— Prays for Senator Akinyelure on his new political journey
Senator Nicholas Tofowomo of Ondo South has said that he would rather quit politics than leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) having benefited immensely from the party.
The Lawmaker said it is imperative to reassure his constituents and his party, the PDP, following the defection of Senator Ayo Akinyelure (Ondo Central) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) at Senate plenary on Wednesday morning.
The Ondo PDP Senator, who scored Akinyelure high in representing the good people of Ondo Central, however, wished him well in his new political party
“I will rather leave active politics than leave the PDP through which God has made me. I was a two-term commissioner for transport in Ondo State on the platform of the PDP. I obtained God’s mercy thereafter to become a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the same PDP.
“So far so good, God has granted most of my heart desires in the PDP. Therefore, I am assuring my people and the leadership of our party that I will never leave the PDP for any political party. Although I admit that our party is currently facing some challenges most especially in Ondo State; however, these are family issues peculiar to all political parties that could be resolved amicably.
“For my Senior brother that just left, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, I wish him well. I pray that the Almighty God who sees his good work and contributions to the development of our party and Ondo Central will continue to bless him always wherever he finds himself,” Senator Tofowomo said.
