I didn’t collapse – Wike breaks silence

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has vehemently dismissed recent social media reports claiming that he collapsed last week, labelling the allegations as the work of individuals seeking to gain cheap political advantage.

Wike addressed the swirling speculation on Thursday while speaking with journalists during his inspection of ongoing projects in the FCT, including the International Conference Centre (ICC). He reaffirmed his dedication to fulfilling his responsibilities.

The unfounded rumours, which gained traction on X, alleged that Wike collapsed at an event in Abuja last Friday and was subsequently rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

However, the minister made a public appearance just days later, joining other dignitaries for Sallah homage to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa. Wike was seen in high spirits, further allaying concerns regarding his health.

His media aide, Lere Olayinka, had previously dismissed the claims as baseless, asserting that there was no truth to the reports.
