A motorist identified as Stanley Akoza has explained how he was brutalized and detained at the Uke Police Station after a collision with the convoy of Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule.
Akoza claimed that the clash occurred as result of the deplorable condition of the road.
It was learnt that the incident took place on Monday, January 8, along the Abuja-Keffi expressway around Gora in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Akoza cited that his Toyota Corolla was not only damaged but also subjected to further harm by security operatives attached to the Governor’s convoy.
Akoza alleged that the officers in Uke Police Station detained him for a night where his car’s particulars were seized, and he was instructed to return on Tuesday, January 16, for their release.
“I’m still on treatment,” he added.
A police officer from the Uke station disclosed that the driver was brought in by security operatives attached to the Governor’s convoy for “obstructing traffic and causing an accident.”
The officer noted that the driver was detained at the counter but released on bail the following day, adding that the car particulars were seized due to the absence of a surety for his bail.
Reacting, a Media Aide to Governor Sule, Emmanuel Innocent Akwe, confirmed the event but maintained that the driver was at fault.
Akwe, however, declined to provide further details on the matter.
