House of Reps Member Struggles with English During Motion Presentation

Hon. Adigun Abass, the representative for Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency in Oyo State, was recently seen struggling to express himself while presenting a motion in the House of Representatives.

According to Politics Nigeria, the PDP lawmaker appeared to have difficulty articulating his points, prompting Speaker Tajudeen Abbas to step in and offer assistance in guiding him through the process. Despite the Speaker’s intervention, Abass continued to face challenges and, after several unsuccessful attempts, was permitted to return to his seat.

The incident quickly garnered attention on social media, with some users questioning Abass’s qualifications and the competence of other lawmakers. However, many defended him, noting his accomplishments in his constituency.

One supporter commended Abass for his numerous empowerment initiatives and community development projects, though they acknowledged that his communication skills could use some improvement. Another constituent stated that they were not concerned with his English, emphasizing his contributions to education, security, and infrastructure in the constituency.
