Some hoodlums exploiting the “End Bad Governance” protest, hijacked and looted a trailer loaded with fertilizer that was intended for Demsa Local Government Area in the state.
Recall that the EndBadGovernance protest which began Aug 1 had significant impact on the commercial activities virtually all the states of the federation.
Eyewitnesses told Vanguard that the trailer, which was parked near the palace of the Paramount Ruler of the area, was waiting for instructions from the council chairman on where to offload the consignment when the incident occurred.
According to sources, the trailer had been stationary for hours, fully covered, which led to speculation among onlookers about its contents. As tensions rose, the crowd eventually decided to loot the trailer.
” Before you know people started calling themselves and in a less distant time, a crowd had gathered and the looting spree commenced uninterrupted.
“As the looting progressed, other people from far and near got the wind of it and before you know the trailer load was emptied”, the source said.
The trailer load of fertilizer was sent to Demsa local government area by Governor Fintiri’s administration to boost harvest and reduce economic hardship.
As of now, the Police is yet to issue an official statement on the attack.
