Gunmen attacked a mosque in Bushe, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, and kidnapped worshippers during the early morning (Subhi) prayer on Thursday.

The police confirmed the incident, stating that at least 10 people, including the Imam, were taken.

Security forces, including the Nigerian Army’s Operation Fasan Yamma, are working to rescue the victims.

A local source said the community has faced several attacks despite the presence of security personnel.

A state lawmaker representing the area also acknowledged the abduction but noted that troops prevented more people from being taken.

Authorities have assured residents that efforts are underway to free those kidnapped.
