The State Caretaker Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Engr Clement Faboyede, has advised members of his party to guide their utterances in the best interest of the PDP as the October 10 governorship election in the state is fast approaching.
Starnews NG reports that Foboyede appealed to the teeming members of the PDP in Ondo State in a statement signed by Leye Igbabo, of the Directorate of Media and Publicity of the party on Monday.
The PDP Chairman said the appeal became necessary due to an interview granted in the Nation Newspaper a few weeks ago where a state chairmanship aspirant of the party berated the leadership of the PDP, describing it as being weak and incapable of securing electoral victory for the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
” I appeal to all the members of the PDP in Ondo State to always approach the State Secretariat for clarity on any issue which they consider ambiguous before granting any Media interview on such”
”An interview granted by one of the state chairmanship aspirants where it was said that we cannot secure electoral victory for the PDP in the coming election, is patently unfair to the leadership of the party despite our dogged commitment to the objectives of the PDP.
”We produced two senators and three members of the House of Representatives for the party, and had over 35, 000 winning votes for our presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, over his rival in the last 2019 General Elections in Nigeria.”
”The interview I granted that generated the reaction of the said Chairmanship Aspirant in thesame media was done a few weeks ago before the inauguration of the present State Caretaker Committee, and it had since been published.
I am not aware the same interview was republished; and if yes, I did not authorise it either.”
”My focus now is to unite the party through my actions and my utterances. And I will also appeal to other Committee members to guide their actions and utterances in the best interest of our unity in PDP, ” he said.
Faboyede enjoined all the members of the PDP not to be distracted but to fully focus on the task ahead and to do everything possible to ensure that the party is united to face the APC in Ondo State.
