The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, on Monday assured all the governorship aspirants contesting for the gubernatorial ticket of the party in Ondo State of a level playing field.
Starnews NG reports that Secondus gave the assurance while receiving the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi who left the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to join the PDP at his Ward in Kiribo town, Ese Odo Local Government area of Ondo State.
“We will not impose any candidate in Ondo State. Our coming to receive the deputy governor is not an endorsement. We have started the wave of tsunami that will be hitting the APC from here.”
“The PDP is a party that follows it’s constitution to the latter. We are going to provide transparent, free and fair level playing field primary, so that everyone can see who will emerge and work with him.” He said.
“There is no automatic ticket for anyone in Ondo. We will provide a level playing field for all aspirants. The people that will be sent to conduct the primary will be incorruptible.”
“We are not like the other party. We are very democratic in the PDP. Ondo people have gone through hell. It is time to rescue them and I know they are looking up to us.”
“We must not disappoint them. Come October 10, this year, the people of the State will be freed from the APC and they will dance when the PDP is back at the helm of the State.” he said.
Secondus later assured the deputy governor that the PDP would provide equal right for all the aspirants including the deputy governor himself who newly joined the party. He said the PDP does not discriminate and does not belong to any individual, adding that the deputy governor can vote and be voted for.
