Guard lands in court over alleged theft of car battery, headlamps

A 53-year-old security guard, Nosifa Amodu, was arraigned at the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday, accused of stealing a car battery and headlamps.

Amodu, whose address was not disclosed, pleaded not guilty to charges of negligence and theft.

Prosecutor Inspector Femi Omilana informed the court that the alleged incident occurred on Wednesday at Oke-Ado, Ibadan. Omilana stated that Amodu failed in his duty to protect a Sienna car owned by Mr. Oyebisi Oyesina, which led to the theft of items valued at N85,000 for the battery and N100,000 for the headlamps.

The charges against Amodu are in violation of Sections 515 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate Gladys Oladele granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000, with two sureties each also posting the same amount.

The case was adjourned until August 12 for further proceedings.
