A group within the All Progressive Congress in Ondo state, the People’s Assembly (OPA), has urged the party’s leadership to take action against two governorship aspirants, Jimoh Ibrahim and Chief Olusola Oke.
They are accused of undermining the democratic process in the selection of the party’s candidate for the November 16 election.
Addressing a press conference in Akure, the convener of the group, Comrade Olufemi Lawson, and publicity secretary, Isijola Kikelomo, accused the aspirants of disrespecting the office of the governor of Ondo State and attempting to discredit Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the party’s chosen candidate.
The group condemned the alleged attempts to undermine the democratic process and destabilize the state. They emphasized Governor Aiyedatiwa’s emergence as the winner through a transparent and democratic process and called for support for him.
In response, the spokesperson for Chief Olusola Oke, Ojo Oyewamide, criticized the group’s stance, alleging that Aiyedatiwa’s emergence lacked transparency and damaged the party’s reputation.
Similarly, the spokesperson for Jimoh Ibrahim, Hon Banjo Okunomo, stated that they would address the matter in court and refrain from engaging in public disputes.
