Group Seeks FG’s Intervention On Roads in Oyo

As part of the effort to prevent further loss of life and negative impacts on the socio-economic well-being of the citizens, the Oyo Global Forum, OGF, has called on the Federal Government to fix roads connecting to the state.

Some of the roads are those from Ogbomoso and Ibadan among others.

The forum made the call in a statement jointly signed by its General Secretary, Remi Adebayo and spokesperson, Mojeed Agboola on Tuesday.

“Oyo now has barely any good roads within the city. This has resulted in the loss of lives and affected businesses. The situation has been exacerbated by the rains, which have caused extensive flooding due to collapsed infrastructure, including bridges. As a result, some communities have been cut off from accessing other parts of the city.

“We therefore call on the Federal Government to fix other roads connecting Oyo, such as those from Ogbomoso and Ibadan, which are in a terrible state.”

While commending the State Governor, Seyi Makinde for the rehabilitation of the Oyo-Iseyin Road, which has improved living and working conditions for the residents, OGF also urged the state government to take immediate action to address this problem, which is threatening the lives and livelihoods of the people in Oyo.

The forum further recommends that the local government areas be made more functional and accountable to the people.

“This will help ensure that community roads and bridges are fixed and well-maintained to prevent further deterioration.”
