Group reiterates call on Ondo School Girls to reject sanitary pads allegedly distributed by Gov Fayemi’s Wife

  •  Insists Fayemi’s wife distributed sanitary pads with spiritual motive

The Ondo Progressives Movement, OPM, has insisted that the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi distributed sanitary pads to school girls in Ilara-Mokin, Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State with spiritual motives.

The group reiterated his call on parents in Ondo State to prevent their daughters, especially those who are virgins from using the sanitary pads.

Starnews Nigeria reports that OPM had raised the alarm yesterday but in a swift reaction on Monday, Precious Olofinyokun, the Convener of a non-governmental Organisation, #PadAGirlCampaign project, condemned the allegation by the OPM, describing it as politically motivated.

Precious said that the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, didn’t distribute any sanitary pads to Ondo School girls, saying the project was carried out by Team #PadAGirl Campaign Project- an NGO convened by her.

But in a counter statement on Monday evening, Comrade Olamide Adeyemi, the OPM Spokesperson in Ondo State, claimed that the programme was sponsored by Erelu Bisi Fayemi, wife of Governor Kayode Fayemi and not Precious Olofinyokun as claimed.

The group noted that the press statement circulated by Erelu Fayemi’s media aides on Sunday, was clear and unambiguous, adding that no mention of any Precious Olofinyokun was made as sponsor of the sanitary pads distribution.

OPM reiterated its call that the sanitary pads being distributed by Governor Fayemi’s wife should be rejected because according to them, it could have spiritual motives that may not be unconnected with the 2022 governorship election in Ekiti State and her husband’s presidential ambition.

“What will happen to the girls after the N500 per pack of sanitary pads given to each of them would have been exhausted”.

“We are still asking why a governor’s wife will choose to distribute sanitary pads to school girls, most of whom are virgins at this time of economic hardship instead of providing foods.”

“We reiterated our call that the sanitary pads being distributed by Governor Fayemi’s wife should be rejected because it could have spiritual motives that may not be unconnected with the 2022 governorship election in Ekiti State and her husband’s presidential ambition”, the group said.
