Gas explosion wreaks havoc in Katsina

A devastating gas explosion occurred in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State on Friday morning, injuring several people and causing significant property damage.

The explosion happened at approximately 8:45 AM at the Tamal filling station along Kagadama-Magamar Jibia Road. The incident involved a truck transporting gas cylinders, which reportedly exploded while en route from Niger Republic to Magamar Jibia.

Eyewitnesses reported extensive damage, with the blast destroying two houses and damaging seven vehicles in the vicinity.

Although no fatalities have been recorded, many individuals sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.

The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the incident, deploying emergency responders to the scene to assist victims and ensure safety in the area.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, has directed a thorough investigation into the cause of the explosion. Updates will be provided as more details emerge from the ongoing investigation.
