Four lawmakers have been suspended at the Imo state house of assembly over an alleged plot to impeach Chike Olemgbe, speaker of the house.

The legislators are Samuel Otuibe (Ahiazu-Mbaise constituency), Henry Agbasonu (Ezinihitte-Mbaise constituency), Chidiebere Ogbunikpa (Okigwe constituency) and Dominic Ezerioha (Oru-west).

The speaker announced the suspension during plenary on Tuesday. He said the decision was taken at the executive session.
