Four Injured in Abuja Building Collapse

By: Bayero Ade

Four people sustained injuries on Tuesday following the collapse of a section of the Samsung building at the popular Banex Junction in Abuja.

The incident occurred during ongoing construction at the site, located on Aminu Kano Crescent. Reports indicate that the penthouse of the three-storey building gave way while casting work was underway.

Nkechi Isa, Head of Public Affairs for the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FCT-EMA), confirmed the incident. She stated that three of the injured were workers present on-site during the collapse.

Isa also clarified that no lives were lost and that four out of the ten workers on-site were promptly taken to Wuse General Hospital for medical attention.

It is worth recalling that the building had been completely destroyed in a fire incident last year. This latest collapse raises questions about the structural integrity of the ongoing reconstruction efforts.

Emergency response teams have since secured the area to prevent further incidents as investigations continue into the cause of the collapse.
