Former Deputy Governor, Oluboyo Not Our Member – Ondo PDP

* Says Oluboyo is confused as to which party to join after moving from 3 different political parties in less down 7 months

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has said that the former deputy governor of the state, Ahlaji Lazeez Oluboyo is not a member of their party, having joined Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, his former boss , in the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) last year.

The PDP said it is necessary to set the record straight and correct the anomalous news being peddled by the ruling APC to flatter president Muhammadu Buhari that the former deputy governor will defect officially today from the PDP to APC during the arrival of the president in Akure for his presidential campaign.

In a statement circulated to press men on Tuesday  by Hon. Banji Okunomo, State Publicity Secretary of PDP In Ondo State, the party said Oluboyo is only defecting from the ZLP to APC and not from PDP to APC contrary to the fake news being spread by the APC in the state.

The full statement read:

“Former deputy governor to Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Ahlaji Lazeez Oluboyo is not defecting from PDP to APC; he is only defecting from Zenith Labour Party to All Progressives  Congress (APC) contrary to the news being peddled by the APC.
“The need to correct this anomalous news is with the fact that the PDP in Ondo is Soaring higher with more other political parties joining the PDP across the 18 Local Governments of the State.
“Few weeks ago, about 500 members of the Zenith Labour Party led by  Mr Olonimoyo, Chairman of ZLP in Idanre Local governments left the party for PDP thereby dissolving the entire ZLP in Idanre Local Government to PDP.
“The truth is, PDP has been soaring higher and higher in Ondo state with multitude joining our Party unlike the APC that buys individuals  into their party for ceremonious purposes like the case of the former Deputy Governor in Ondo state who will be decamping today from ZLP to APC to add flavour to the visit of President Buhari for APC campaign flag off in Ondo State.
“The former Deputy Governor has been confused as to which Party to join. In less down 7 months , he has moved from Labour Party to Zenith Labour Party and now to the ruling APC.
“There is no doubt that PDP will win this election notwistanding all the evil calculations and devices of the ruling APC to arrest our leaders, block their bank accounts and rig the election at all cost”, the statement added.
