Former Defence Chief is dead

A former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi (retd.), is dead.

He was said to have passed on after a brief illness in the early hours of Sunday.

Ogohi was the Chief of Defence Staff between 1999 and 2003.

The Director of Information, Nigerian Navy, Commodore Adams-Aliu confirmed the news to our correspondent.

Also, the Director Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau confirmed the development in a message sent to newsmen.

He said, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajiun. With deep sorrow, I announce the death of Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi (retd.), a former Chief of Defence Staff (1999-2003).

“He passed on in Abuja in the early hours of today. More details will be communicated later.”
