Over 1,000 residents of Ayeka/Igbodigo Community under Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State have been hindered from going about their lawful businesses as the only road linking the community was heavily flooded because of a-four-day torrential rainfall.
Starnews reports that the main road linking three communities of Ode-Ayeka, Igbodigo and Igodan have been taken over by the flood and residents of the affected communities cannot go to their offices and business places.
The route is not accessible to vehicles, motorcycles and passerby. The residents are consequently left with the option of going out with canoes because of the deep flooded road.
Mr. Segun, one of the Landlords, who spoke with Starnews Correspondent in Okitipupa on Thursday, urged the State Government to rescue the affected commmunities immediately.
”We have been writing letters to the state government to do something urgently about this road as this happens often, especially anytime there is heavy rainfall. But unfortunately we have not been getting results.”
”Our people can’t go to work or their business places as I speak. This road is the only gate way to other communities and towns in this local government. Many commercial activities have been paralysed. May I use this medium to renew our calls on the state government to come to our rescue immediately”, he said.
Starnews contacted the chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Omoba Abayomi Adesanya, on phone to seek his reaction but his phone was switched off or not available according to MTN as at the time of filing this report.
