The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has successfully contained a fire outbreak at the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, Kano State, saving property estimated at about ₦680 million.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the university’s Architecture Department, where files and other materials were reportedly kept.
According to the FFS Kano State Controller, Sadiq Usman-Mahmud, firefighters received a distress call from the university’s security personnel at about 11:38 a.m. and immediately deployed a response team from the Federal Secretariat station.
The FFS, working alongside the Kano State Fire Service, used two medium jets of water to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the building and nearby properties.
The service said property worth approximately ₦700 million was involved in the incident. Of that amount, property valued at about ₦680 million was saved, while the estimated value of the property lost was ₦20 million.
The fire was attributed to damaged electrical wiring. No casualty was recorded, while firefighters subsequently inspected the affected area to ensure there was no further risk.
The FFS urged institutions and members of the public to regularly inspect electrical installations and replace faulty or damaged wiring to prevent similar incidents.
