Fire engulfs MTN booster station near University of Ibadan

A fire outbreak occurred at a booster station belonging to MTN near the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Ibadan in the early hours of Saturday.

The incident was confirmed by Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, in a statement issued in Ibadan.

According to Akinyinka, the fire service received a distress call at exactly 4:00 a.m. from an individual identified as Akinoso. In response, a team led by ACFS Olubunmi was immediately dispatched to the location.

Upon arrival, the firefighters found a Mikano electrical generator and its control board engulfed in flames. With the assistance of fire marshals from the University of Ibadan, the fire was successfully extinguished.

Akinyinka stated that while the generator and control board were damaged, other telecommunications equipment remained intact. He attributed the cause of the fire to an electrical surge.
