FG Introduces New Platform for Authenticating NECO Results

In a recent development, the Federal Government has issued a directive to the heads of tertiary education institutions, instructing them to implement the NECO e-Verify platform for verifying the results of candidates who have applied for admission and have taken the National Examinations Council Senior School Certificate Examination.

During the official launch event held in Abuja, David Andrew Adejo, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, emphasized the significance of the NECO e-Verify platform in combating the prevalence of counterfeit results during the admission process.

Adejo stated, “Given that tertiary institutions have a responsibility to authenticate and validate the academic records of candidates before granting them admission, it becomes imperative to introduce a recertification process for the results. Therefore, all university Vice Chancellors, polytechnic rectors, college of education provosts, heads of other tertiary institutions, and Innovation Enterprises Institutions are mandated to utilize the NECO e-Verify software to verify the authenticity of results for all prospective candidates who have taken the NECO examination.”

Professor Ibrahim Wushishi, the Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, elaborated on the features of the “NECO e-Verify” platform, describing it as an online solution designed for verifying academic and basic information of potential candidates seeking admission to educational institutions or employment opportunities.

This initiative aims to address the increasing demand from Nigerians within and outside the country who require reliable result verification services. By leveraging the NECO e-Verify platform, educational institutions and workplaces can promptly authenticate the academic records and credentials of individuals.
