FG Approves Survival Wage for Civil Servants

In a matter of weeks from the present moment, Nigerian citizens, primarily those employed in civil service, are poised to receive a Survival wage granted by the federal government.

As per available information, this Survival wage aims to be distributed in order to mitigate the impact of the removal of fuel subsidies.

The disclosure of this development was made by Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, on Tuesday, April 15th.

Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, said that efforts are actively underway to ensure that Nigerians receive essential support packages as negotiations continue regarding the minimum wage.

Abbas, represented by the Speaker of Osun State, Hon Oluwole, gave the hint at an event organized by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in partnership with the MacArthur Foundation.

According to him, the government is set to ameliorate the negative impact of the fuel subsidy removal by disbursing money known as survival wages to Federal Civil servants as palliatives to cushion the effect of the hardship caused by fuel subsidy removal.
