The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended a notorious gang leader, Abubakar Idris, also known as Nishi, along with his accomplices, for the murder of Ibrahim Danfulani in a dispute linked to a marriage proposal.
According to PUNCH, in a statement on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed that the incident occurred on November 27, 2024. Nishi was reportedly angered by Ibrahim’s plan to marry a woman in whom he had made significant financial investments, leading to a violent confrontation.
Investigations confirmed that Nishi and two associates attacked Ibrahim with knives, resulting in his death. Following the murder, the gang allegedly stole 18 cows belonging to the victim, claiming it as compensation for Nishi’s perceived financial losses.
SP Adeh further disclosed that Nishi fled the crime scene but was later tracked and arrested in Nasarawa State. At the time of his capture, he was reportedly planning to recruit more gang members to harm the woman involved in the dispute.
She stated, “The combined efforts of the FCT Police Command and residents of the Agaita community in Karu led to the arrest of the suspects. They are now in custody and will be prosecuted to ensure justice is served.”
