Family of slain POS operator seeks justice, appeals to Mike Adenuga for help

A young woman, Oluchi Usulor, is seeking justice after alleging that her 21-year-old sister, Esther Usulor Chinyere, was murdered in the Cele 1 area of Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

In a video that recently went viral, it was claimed that a security guard known only as John, from Jos, Plateau State, killed Esther, a Point of Sale (PoS) operator, and fled with her PoS machine and cash.

Speaking from the alleged crime scene, located under a Glo mast at Cele 1, Oluchi, visibly distraught, said, “This is where it happened. The guard killed my sister here and took her PoS terminal and money. His name is John from Jos, Plateau State.”

Oluchi also revealed that the police had moved her sister’s body to a mortuary in Ibeju-Lekki without notifying the family. For two days, they searched for Esther before discovering that she had been murdered and that her remains had been transferred to a mortuary in Epe.

The video, as seen by Sunday Vanguard, shows Oluchi and a relative grieving deeply and appealing to Glo Unlimited’s Chairman, Chief Mike Adenuga, for support. They added that their grandmother is currently in a morgue, and they are unsure how to break the devastating news of Chinyere’s death to her.

“I am calling on Mike Adenuga to come to our aid. I don’t have anybody. My grandmother is in the mortuary. I don’t know how to tell my mother that Chinyere has been killed in Lagos”, she said, sobbing.

It was further gathered that an association, identified as Ezza Union, had, penultimate Friday, responded to Oluchi’s call for justice.

A statement by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Comrade Awah, titled, ‘Murder of Miss Esther Usulor: Search for justice begins’, indicated that executive members of the association, including its two Vice Presidents, Chief John Izekwe and Ambassador Simon Itumo, visited the Police Area Command, Ajah, Lagos in respect of the matter which was quickly transferred to the State Criminal Department, CID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos.

“On getting to Yaba where we met with the Investigating Police Officer, IPO, we all were shocked to the marrow when we sighted a statement already written that Esther committed suicide”, one of those at the meeting said.

He added that the executives was able to establish a case of murder against the fleeing suspect and expressed optimism that he would soon be arrested.
