Engr. Niyi Ogunwa Oboli, People Democratic Party (PDP) Aspirant for the just concluded primary election for Okipupa/Irele Federal Constituency in Ondo State, has rejected free tickets from four different political parties after losing the primary election of the PDP held on October 3, 2018 due to what he described as political gang up from selfish and greedy party leaders .
Oboli who spoke with Starnews in Ode Aye, his country home, while congratulating former vice president Atiku Abubakar as PDP presidential Candidate, said that his intention to contest for house of representatives is not a do-or-die affairs but to correct many wrongs.
He said he was a victim of circumstances being a former aide of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko from the old Labour Party.
Oboli described the PDP primary election as unnecessary and a waste of time especially when a highly placed party leader already predetermined the outcome of the election by threatening party delegates to vote for a particular aspirant against their conscience.
He accused some PDP leaders of collecting bogus amount of money to work against the interests of the party and public opinion.
“No wonder there were no jubilation across the Federal Constituency, a sign of wrong candidate,” he posited.
Oboli who directed all his teeming followers to remain calm and await his further directives, however said he has lot followers who were deeply worried across his federal constituency concerning how he and his other co-contestants were treated by a top PDP leader whose name was not mentioned.
According to him:
“To win primary election is the first stage. The second stage is the general election where power lies with the electorates to take a decision on the candidate of their choices where no greedy party leaders can threaten anyone to vote against their choice.
“I’m still watching the situation on what next to do…. I already rejected offer of free tickets from four different political parties to contest under their political platform. But I’m not desperate. My contest is not do-or die. But I know some people already had their reward.
“I have directed all my teeming followers to remain calm and await further directives. Many of them are worried over the gang up against me and they want to know my next line of action. My supporters are not limited to my Federal Constituency but across Ondo State , Nation wide and overseas… but I have told them to remain calm.
“I believe there is always tomorrow for us all including the said selfish leaders… Our today can determine our tomorrow. And that is what some of these bad leader did not consider. Whatever anyone sow, the season for harvest will soon come.
“When asked if he plans to defect from the PDP to another Political party, he said: I’m a PDP man and I have invested a lot into the Party, even when there are nobody to finance the party, I remain amongst the few who stood and financed the Party.
“I am not working for myself or complaining for my sake but it is all about the interest of the masses (electorates) whose hopes were hinged on Almighty God and a credible candidate who will be accountable to them just like I have been doing in the past, he said
