Exit of a colossus: Lady evangelist grace Akeredolu

The entire Management and Staff of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Ondo State commiserate with our amiable and indefatigable Governor, Arakunrin, Rotimi Akeredolu and the entire Akeredolu family on the passing into glory of their matriarch, Lady Evangelist, Grace Bosede Akeredolu at the ripe age of 90 years.

Although Mama might have crossed the biblical threshold of life’s expectancy, no one wishes to lose a dear person, no matter how old. Undoubtedly, Arakunrin, and his siblings, will be deeply touched and sorely missed their mother’s departure into eternal glory, given the extent of bond that existed between them. We are, however, consoled that Mama lived well and dedicated her entire life to the service of God and humanity.

Life, within the African-nay, Yoruba cosmology, is a continuum. Mama has merely crossed to the next room where she would continue to watch her children and guide them on the path of honour, dedication to duty and commitment to the cause of God and humanity, the virtues she lived and died for.

While we share in this painful moment of our dear governor, the best he can do to keep her memory intact is to continue to remain committed to the ideal of good governance, comradeship and fearless disposition that have come to define his essence.

Once again, we sympathise with the Arakunrin and pray that God will grant Mama eternal rest even as we ask God to intercede in any area of her shortcomings and forgive her.

Signed,

Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan
Chairman, SUBEB, Ondo State
