Exclusive: More politicians jostle for Ondo Deputy Governorship Seat

More details have emerged on how some top politicians in Ondo State may be considered for the seat of the Deputy Governor, Starnews Nigeria reports.

Starnews Nigeria had yesterday reported that a former Federal Lawmker Alade Mayorkun (Ondo Central), Olumuyiwa Adu (Ondo Central), Bunmi Ademosu and a former State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Ondo State, Hon (Princess) Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole were jostling for the second exalted seat in the state.

In a latest development, Starnews Nigeria reports that a renowned Human Rights Activist, Tolu Babaleye (Ondo North), according to political Observers, may be fortunate to be the next Deputy Governor as some stakeholders are mounting pressure on Aiyedatiwa to pick his deputy from the Northern Senatorial of the state.

It was learnt that Babaleye became a vociferous critics against the move to impeach Aiyedatiwa when he was the Deputy Governor.

“Through his verified social media account, Babaleye frowned against reported irregularities that nearly shattered the polity while the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was away“, a source said..

Similarly, a business mogul, Adeyeri Stephen (Ondo North) was also said to be the first person to pitch his tent with Aiyedatiwa when the latter’s ordeal began with the Ondo State House of Assembly.

The anonymous source who maintains a healthy relationship with virtually all politicians in the Sunshine state disclosed that Adeyeri declared unwavering support for Aiyedatiwa a few months after he rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Adeyeri is a calm politician that has a good relationship with Aiyedatiwa. He was the first person to begin to release statement against the impeachment of Aiyedatiwa. Infact, he lent his strong voice against reported illegalities that characterised the cabinet then. As I speak, he is one of the interested persons from the north that is being considered.

It was also learnt that a former member of House of Representatives, Hon. Ade Adeogun, might likely have a good shot for the seat.

“Adeogun is overly calm, he does his things in a subterranean and meticulous manners. He is experienced and has what it takes to be a good Deputy Governor”, a chietain of the party told Starnews NG on Friday evening.

However, Starnews NG reports that President Bola Tinubu may likely suggest names for Aiyedatiwa to fill the vacant position of the deputy governor.
