The immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Enema Paul, has reportedly passed away.
Hon Paul, who represented Okura State Constituency in the current 8th Assembly, was said to have died in a private hospital in Abuja during the early hours of Saturday after battling an undisclosed illness.
The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf, has expressed condolences to the family of the deceased. In his tribute, he described Hon Paul as a friend, a humble and temperate individual, as well as a committed team player and public servant.
In a statement signed by the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, and made available to journalists in Lokoja, the late Deputy Speaker was praised for his dedication to the unity of the state and his commitment to promoting pro-people legislation aimed at the state’s development.
The Speaker also highlighted the late lawmaker’s devotion to Christianity, noting his ability to look beyond religious differences and his strong commitment to family values. He prayed for God to grant the bereaved family and members of the current and previous Assemblies the strength to bear the loss.
Hon Enema Paul had stepped down as Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly due to health challenges. He was succeeded by Hon Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola, who represents Ibaji State Constituency.
