A Senior Magistrate Court in Bosso, Niger State, has sentenced a 44-year-old ex-convict, Abdulmutalib Abdullahi, to two years in a correctional facility without the option of a fine after he pleaded guilty to charges of criminal trespass, intimidation, and theft.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Bosso Divisional Police Command, Abdullahi had recently completed a jail term in January for a similar offense.
According to Afripost, However, he was arrested again after unlawfully entering the home of Mohammed Mohammed Shaba, where he stole several valuables, including an HP laptop worth N500,000, a Samsung Galaxy S9 phone, and other electronic gadgets.
During the court proceedings, police prosecutor Sergeant Angela Jah informed the court that the offenses committed were punishable under Sections 288, 349, and 397 of the Penal Code.
In her ruling, Presiding Senior Magistrate Evelyn Christopher Auta noted that Abdullahi’s repeated involvement in criminal activities showed a clear lack of remorse. She emphasized that his imprisonment was necessary to safeguard the community and serve as a warning to others who might engage in similar acts.
