The riverine community of Ese Odo in Ondo State came alive as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Agboola Ajayi was greeted with overwhelming enthusiasm from residents.

In a show of solidarity, Ese Odo residents turned out en masse to welcome their “Son of the Soil,” Agboola Ajayi, who is seeking the governorship seat in Ondo.

Led by the campaign chairman, Chief Eddy Olafeso, a prominent PDP chieftain in the state, the campaign team arrived in Arogbo Kingdom on Monday, met by joyous dancing and traditional songs.

Supporters, donning Agboola Ajayi campaign caps and waving PDP flags, cheered as the team arrived by boat, filling the area with jubilation.

Chief Olafeso, who led the entourage to the campaign ground, was greeted by party faithful chanting Agboola’s name, creating a charged atmosphere throughout the rally.

Some supporters openly pledged their votes for the PDP candidate, vowing to deliver Ese Odo for him in the upcoming governorship election on November 16.

They were quick to point out that the APC had never secured a win in Ese Odo, adding that PDP’s legacy in the area remains deeply rooted.

Residents voiced frustration over what they described as neglect by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), highlighting that most infrastructural developments in the area were realised during PDP’s last tenure.

Chief Eddie Olafeso, popularly hailed as the “Ondo PDP Generalissimo,” was widely praised for his relentless efforts to drum up support for Ajayi.

Upon his arrival at the rally, Ajayi acknowledged the party leaders, especially Olafeso, before taking to the podium to address the excited crowd.

The campaign train then moved to the palace of the Kalasuwe of Apoi Land, where Olafeso led party leaders to seek the royal blessings for Ajayi’s candidacy.

Traditional rulers present praised Ajayi’s past achievements while in office, promising to rally massive support for him in the polls.

Expressing appreciation on behalf of the party, Olafeso applauded the warm reception from the royal fathers and the people of Apoi, promising that PDP would build on its previous legacy if voted into power.

He urged the traditional rulers of Apoi Kingdom to continue their support for Ajayi, assuring them that he would deliver excellent governance if elected.

“We’re delighted to be received with such warmth in Apoi land. Agboola Ajayi is our candidate for the forthcoming election, and we proudly present him to you,” Olafeso said.

“We seek your royal blessings for him as a son of this land. By God’s grace, Ajayi will be governor on November 16,” he declared confidently.

His words were met with thunderous applause, especially from the traditional rulers of Apoi, who praised Olafeso as a true son of the land and a tireless politician.

Responding, the Kalasuwe of Apoi Land, His Royal Majesty, Professor Sunday Adejimola Amuseghan, described Ajayi as the “true son of Apoi,” commending his contributions while serving as a House of Representatives member and former deputy governor.

The royal fathers showered Ajayi with prayers and pledged their support for his candidacy.

They further assured him of their commitment to mobilise their people to vote en masse, expressing confidence in his victory at the polls.
