A United States-based businesswoman and custodian of Yoruba traditional history, Erelu Tinuade Mabel Onaneye, widely known as Erelu Oodua, has announced a scholarship initiative offering N100,000 each to support 50 indigenous students from Ode Aye who have gained admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria for the 2025 academic calendar.
Erelu Oodua emphasized the importance of education and community support, stating that the scholarship aims to alleviate the financial burden on students and their families. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must provide proof of citizenship of Ode Aye through the submission of a birth certificate and a certificate of local government origin, as well as a copy of their admission letter. The scholarship will be awarded to the first 50 students who meet these requirements.

In addition to her scholarship initiative, Erelu Oodua has been actively involved in enhancing the security of Ode Aye. Recently, she oversaw the installation of 360-degree CCTV cameras at undisclosed strategic locations throughout the ancient town, aimed at preventing crime, enhancing public safety, and assisting law enforcement in investigations.
Erelu Oodua is not only recognized for her philanthropic efforts but also for her commitment to the development of her hometown and the welfare of its residents. She holds the title of Irawo Oni Oodua of Yoruba land and has made significant contributions to addressing health crises in the area. Recently, she invested a substantial N42 million to revive the dilapidated Government Primary Health Center in Ode Aye.
Currently, Erelu Oodua is also undertaking beautification projects within the town, further demonstrating her dedication to improving the living conditions and overall well-being of her community.
