Erelu Oodua Breathes New Life Into Ode Aye, Revives Abandoned Health Center

In a remarkable display of compassion and commitment to her community, Erelu Tinuade Mabel Onaneye, a USA-based businesswoman and esteemed custodian of Yoruba traditional history, has taken monumental steps to address a long-standing health crisis in Ode Aye, a community in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nigeria.

As the titleholder of Erelu Oodua of Aye Kingdom and the Irawo Oni Oodua of Yoruba land, her recent philanthropic efforts have transformed the lives of many residents.

For years, the people of Ode Aye faced the grim reality of inadequate healthcare, often forced to travel to neighbouring Okitipupa to access basic medical services. This dire situation left many vulnerable, leading to premature deaths and suffering. However, Erelu Onaneye, moved by the plight of her people, took it upon herself to revive the dilapidated Government Primary Health Center, investing a substantial N42 million into the project.

During a recent visit by Starnews NG, the rejuvenated health center was a sight to behold. Erelu meticulously renovated the crumbling infrastructure and outfitted the facility with state-of-the-art medical equipment, including a Mobile Aneroid Sphygmomanometer, Oxygen Cylinders, and laboratory testing kits with modern mattresses and carriage designed to redistribute pressure and support patients.

The comprehensive upgrades not only improved the physical structure but also ensured that residents would no longer need to travel far for essential health services.

The health center include laboratory office, delivery room, Post antenatal unit, outpatient department, female and male wards

“I wept profusely when I learned how many lives were lost due to the lack of basic healthcare,” Erelu Onaneye shared in an emotional interview. Her resolve to restore health services was fueled by the desire to ensure that her community has access to quality medical care. With the installation of modern laboratory equipment underway, the health center is poised to provide vital services, including blood tests and medical examinations, right at the doorstep of its residents.

The community has expressed overwhelming gratitude for Erelu’s efforts, with residents showering her with prayers and accolades. The Fusion of Aye Development Associations (FOADA) has also recognized her monumental contributions, by honouring her with an award and with a planned celebratory event in collaboration with the local government chairman for the commissioning of the project.

As Erelu Onaneye continues to champion the cause of healthcare in Ode Aye, her vision extends beyond the present. She aspires to employ a dedicated medical doctor to ensure consistent medical coverage, addressing concerns over the limited availability of government-appointed healthcare providers.

The restoration of the health center stands as a beacon of hope for Ode Aye, showcasing the profound impact one individual can have on a community. Erelu Tinuade Mabel Onaneye’s unwavering dedication to her people exemplifies the spirit of philanthropy and leadership, inspiring others to invest in their communities and uplift those in need.

As the community prepares for the commissioning of the revitalized health center, the anticipation is palpable. Erelu’s journey is a testament that change is possible when compassion drives action, and Ode Aye is on the cusp of a healthier future, thanks to her relentless efforts.
