Erelu Tinuade Mabel Onaneye, a USA-based businesswoman and esteemed custodian of Yoruba traditional history, popularly known as Erelu Oodua, has censured Olorile of Orile Ifo, Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi for assaulting a 73-year-old chief, Abraham Areola.

In a viral video on social media, the Monarch was seen assaulting the Septuagenarian who was constrained to kneel down.

While reacting on the incident, Onaneye condemned the incident in a terse post on Facebook.

She wrote, “This useless Oba must be given a dirty slap and rubbish in the public as deserves. That is my judgment to oba Onile Ifo, Ogun State. Awon oba katikati, alaini eko ti po ju ni Ogun State. Baba Alake of Egbaland, e jowo e bawa mu awon Oba yin so.”

Meanwhile, The Ogun State Police Command on Tuesday arraigned the suspended Olorile of Orile Ifo, Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi, for allegedly assaulting a 73-year-old chief, Abraham Areola.

Ogunjobi was brought before the court on three charges: conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the traditional ruler was arraigned following a viral video showing him assaulting an elderly man in Ifo, Ogun State.

He said, “Kabiyesi Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, who was seen assaulting an elderly man in a viral video, has been charged to court today, February 4, 2025, on three counts of conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.”
