El-Rufai’s Ally Appointed as Kaduna SDP Chairman

A close associate of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Nasiru Abdullahi Mai Kano, has emerged as the interim chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kaduna State.

The appointment, which was confirmed on Thursday, March 6, is set for an initial three-month period, after which a review may determine further developments.

Mai Kano, a former member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing the Unguwar Sanusi Constituency, will lead the party alongside other newly appointed executives.

Reliable sources within the SDP hinted that more allies of the former governor are expected to join the party in the coming weeks, potentially bolstering its ranks ahead of future political engagements.

Other key figures in the new leadership structure include Iriniya Kantiyok, who assumes the role of Secretary-General, and Honourable Mas’ud, appointed as Vice Chairman.
