El-Rufai Responds to Reno Omokri, Calls Him a ‘Political Mercenary’

By: Bayero Ade

Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, has hit out at Reno Omokri, a former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, labeling him a “political mercenary.”

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), El-Rufai criticized Omokri’s political trajectory, describing him as someone who shifts allegiance to whoever offers the most financial gain. This attack is part of an ongoing exchange between the two, with El-Rufai expressing disapproval of Omokri’s political behavior.

According to Politics Nigeria, Omokri, who was a spokesperson for opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 presidential election, surprised many when he switched his support to President Bola Tinubu after the election results. El-Rufai also shared images of Omokri at a London protest, where he had referred to President Tinubu as a drug baron.

“The interesting cycle of Wendell Simlin, often hired as a political mercenary by anyone willing to pay,” El-Rufai commented.
