Ex-National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, on Friday, said with unity, the opposition party would end reign of the All Progressives Congress at the federal level in 2023.
Oyinlola spoke in Osogbo when he received ex-deputy governor of Oyo State, Taofeek Arapaja, who is contesting the post of South-West chairman of the party in the next zonal Congress.
The PDP chieftain, who commended a former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose; and his deputy, Abiodun Olujinmi, for ending their feud, said once the party was able to end internal ranglings in its fold, it would be in good stead to take over at the national level in 2023.
The ex-Osun governor also said the ruling party had failed to deliver on all promises it made before getting to power.
“What will lead to success is the engineering of unity within the party. If that is achieved, I can say it loud and clear that APC government has failed the nation in every respect, except somebody wants to be insincere. So, if we have our party united, the people will follow us and we will return to power in 2023.
“We have been making every effort to resolve our differences in the South-West. You should recall that I am the chairman of the reconciliation committee for South West and we have gone round all the six states and been able to identify the problem areas. It is a matter of just sitting down and settling everything between us. We must be united if we want to win elections. There are no two ways about it.
“Before when I met Fayose and Olujinmi, they were both adamant, they said they would not sit down and talk. I was surprised two weeks ago when the two of them sat and talked. I called the two that I am indeed very grateful to them for that decision,” Oyinlola said.
