Eid Mubarak: Damagun urges Nigerians to seek divine intervention over bad governance

…Tasks Muslims on love, tolerance

The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador Umar Ilya Damagun, has called on Nigerians to pray for the nation’s liberation from bad governance.

Damagun, in a statement signed by his Media Assistant, Bisi Ezekiel, on Sunday, felicitated with Muslim faithful on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan fasting. He urged them to rededicate their lives to Almighty Allah and uphold the virtues of the holy month.

He stressed the need for love, tolerance, and peace among Nigerians, noting that Ramadan is a period of deep spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and devotion to God.

“The holy month teaches us patience, compassion, and generosity. Through fasting, prayers, and charity, we strengthen our faith and renew our commitment to the values of peace, unity, and love for humanity,” he said.

Damagun also called on citizens to remain steadfast in prayers for the country, lamenting the state of governance under the All Progressives Congress, APC-led administration.

“Nigeria is in dire need of prayers. The country is currently under siege from bad governance, lawlessness, and suppression of opposition voices, imposed by the APC administration of President Bola Tinubu,” he said.

According to him, the ruling party has undermined democratic institutions, silenced dissenting voices, and taken control of key arms of government, including the National Assembly, judiciary, and security agencies.

“As a party, the PDP is calling on Nigerians to unite, pray, and stand firm in the quest to reclaim power and restore governance to the people.

“Our nation is facing serious challenges, but with collective resilience and determination, we shall overcome. It is time to reject bad leadership and work towards a better Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections.”

Damagun prayed that the blessings of the season bring renewed hope and progress to the nation.
