The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has decided to cancel the arrest warrant for Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, also known as Thankgod, who manages Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.
The decision came after a request from EFCC’s lawyer, Bilikisu Buhari, on Friday.
Earlier, Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Lagos had issued the warrant following a motion filed by the EFCC, Vanguard reports.
The commission had accused Onyedikachukwu of financial misconduct, specifically for allegedly diverting $345,000 in royalties from Mercy Chinwo’s digital platforms and events.
The case began when Chinwo filed a petition with the EFCC, claiming her manager withheld funds without explanation.
The EFCC had sought the arrest to ensure Onyedikachukwu appeared in court for the charges.
However, with the withdrawal of the warrant, the case continues without his immediate arrest.
