The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has named the Administrative Department of its Academy in Karu, Abuja, in honor of Aminu Salisu, an officer killed in the line of duty.
According to Afripost, the announcement was made by EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede during the 2024 EFCC Rewards and Recognition ceremony in Abuja on Saturday.
Salisu, an Assistant Superintendent at the EFCC, was tragically shot on January 17 by suspected internet fraudster Joshua Ikechukwu while carrying out his official duties in Anambra State.
Olukoyede assured that Salisu’s killer would face justice, reiterating the EFCC’s commitment to supporting the families of officers who lose their lives while serving the nation.
“The commission will do everything within its power to honor the sacrifices of those who have died in the line of duty and support their families,” Olukoyede said.
Despite the numerous challenges the EFCC faces, Olukoyede emphasized that the agency would not relent in its fight against financial crimes in Nigeria.
“We will continue our fight against financial crimes in Nigeria. We will not forget the sacrifices of every officer who has fallen or been injured while serving,” he stated.
In memory of Salisu’s bravery and dedication to the fight against corruption, Olukoyede directed that the administrative building at the EFCC Academy in Abuja be named after him.
