The off-cycle governorship election in Edo State is intensifying as law enforcement continues to crack down on political misconduct.
On Saturday afternoon, the police apprehended several individuals suspected of being political thugs and party loyalists involved in vote buying.
This development was communicated by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, on social media.
During the arrests, officers confiscated cash and various other incriminating materials from the suspects.
This action follows the earlier detention of two political thugs during a nighttime operation.
The individuals arrested were identified as Edwin Obanor, 43, and Audu Tajudeen, 41, both affiliated with the PDP from the Ugbogbo area of Igara Akoko, Edo State. Further details on these incidents are expected to emerge as the election approaches.
