Easter: FG Declares April 18, 21 Public Holidays

The Federal Government has designated Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays in celebration of Good Friday and Easter Monday.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo congratulated Christians nationwide as they commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, urging them to embrace the spirit of love, sacrifice, and compassion that Easter represents.

He called on Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for lasting peace, unity, and progress in the country, while emphasizing the importance of national cohesion.

The Minister also reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to national transformation through the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at ensuring a better future for all citizens.

He encouraged Nigerians to extend kindness and goodwill to one another during the celebrations, adding that acts of generosity can help strengthen community bonds.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo wished Christians a joyful Easter and extended warm greetings to all Nigerians during the holiday season.
