Several people have died and many more have been injured after a car drove into a crowd during a street festival in Vancouver, Canada, local authorities confirmed.
The incident took place on Saturday evening, and the driver involved has been apprehended.
While the exact number of fatalities has yet to be revealed, the Vancouver Police Department reported that multiple individuals sustained injuries in the crash.
According to a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the vehicle struck the crowd at the intersection of East 41st Avenue and Fraser Street shortly after 8:00 PM local time (03:00 GMT Sunday).
The collision occurred during the Lapu Lapu Festival, an annual event that celebrates Filipino heritage, as reported by local media outlets.
Videos circulating on social media, though not yet verified, showed a large emergency response at the scene, with police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks present. Several injured individuals were seen lying on the ground as first responders attended to them.
