Drama on Akoko – Kabba road as Police decline to go after armed robbers

A mid drama ensued on Monday at Akoko – Kabba express road as armed Policemen at a checkpoint, a few minutes drive to Kabba in Kogi State declined the call by a commercial bus driver to go after some gang of armed robbers who were operating and terrorising travelers on the highway.

Our correspondent who was inside the commercial bus going to Abuja said they joined other motorists to stop over at Aire-Akoko community after getting information that armed robbers were ahead of them and were in operation at the middle of the road.

Meanwhile, two yet to be identified gallant Soldiers who were contacted within the environment had already rendered assistance to travelers by joining a private car to lead other motorists to clear the road and chased the robbers away.

This was not made known to the men of the Nigerian Police who were on the road demanding ransom from road users a few minutes to Kabba town.

Starnews NG Correspondent reports that on getting to the Police checkpoint, the driver of the commercial bus conveying him to Abuja quickly informed the Police that armed robbers were at their back operating with a request from the driver that the Police should please go after them.

The driver made this request the moment he discovered that men of the Police were asking him for ransom.

According to our Correspondent, the armed Policemen who were jittery, rejected the call without hesitation and said the location of the incident was not under their territory.

This drew the attention of commuters with everyone of them bursting into laughter, Starnews NG can report.

Starnews reports that the armed Policemen later rushed into their car, left the scene, and headed to Kabba town.
