As the political drama escalates between two rivals, former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has predicted that Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will regret his departure from the party.
Kwankwaso stated that the governor’s decision, along with that of his political allies, to abandon the NNPP will have significant repercussions in the future.
In a statement from his political camp on Wednesday, the former governor of Kano labeled the move a mistake that would undermine Yusuf’s political support and betray the trust placed in him by the electorate under the NNPP banner.
He emphasized that the NNPP is the genuine political home of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, asserting that personal ambitions should not take precedence over loyalty to the party that facilitated their rise to power.
Kwankwaso warned that history would hold accountable those who forsake the party, reminding that political choices made today often lead to consequences in the future.
This situation has heightened the political tension in Kano, as supporters from both sides continue to exchange heated remarks regarding the governor’s alleged plans to defect.
