Fuji singer, Alabi Pasuma, and street-hop artiste, Habib Okikiola popularly known as Portable, on Friday evening performed at a celestial church identified as Land of Goshen Cathedral in Lagos State.

Though the invitation of the two artists had earlier occasioned backlash with many netizens serverly condemning the church.

Starnews reports that the church disclosed the news after its presiding pastor, Aderemi Dabiri, stated that he invited the singers to win souls for Christ.

The cleric disclosed this in a video in which he was shown speaking to a task force delegation from the church that had come to his parish to meet with him.

“It is not our first time inviting guest artistes. We have been doing it without a problem and I can give you a series of instances. We can’t go where they sell palm wine or alcoholic drinks and ask them to accept Jesus Christ. If I don’t apply wisdom, they will hit bottle on my head. That was why I thought of a way to bring them into the church,” he said.

While criticising some gospel singers for their disrespectful behaviour, Dabiri added, “Some of the gospel singers are rude. Some of them respond to you rudely, but the day I called Pasuma, he sounded respectful on the phone and also agreed with my stance.”

Amidst the church facing severe backlash on social media, a viral video captured showcased scenes where both Pasuma and Portable were spotted seated within the church premises during a program. The footage revealed the two artists in attendance while a pastor delivered a sermon in the background.

Pasuma sported a casual shirt and trousers, while Portable opted for an all-white Celestial apparel, aligning himself with the church’s dress code.

In another clip, Portable was seen passionately performing his popular track, “Zazuu,” with congregants enthusiastically joining in, creating an atmosphere of excitement and shared celebration within the church.
