The former Delta State Governor, James Ibori, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Senator James Manager, David Edevbie among others bigwigs of the Peoples Democratic Party were absent at the inauguration of party’s campaign council on Thursday in Asaba.
Edevbie, who is the anoited candidate of Ibori, had dragged Okowa’s anoited candidate, Oborevwori to court over certificates saga which was recently dismissed in favour of Oborevwori, was on the list of state campaign council released by the party on Monday.
Meanwhile, Ibori, Uduaghan, Edevbie, Manager, Amori along with their supporters boycotted the inauguration which was held in Asaba.
Addressing the party faithfuls, the state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, urged the team to concentrate their campaign more at the units and wards level.
He urged aggrieved members of the party to embrace peace and support the party candidate, adding that there is always a tomorrow.
He said, “Yes, there are issues in PDP Delta state and we will settle it and PDP will come out stronger and united.
“I want to appeal to the aspirants to embrace all and do the one you can to support your brother because there is always a tomorrow. In 2006, I ran for governor but didn’t get it but I supported the person and today I’m a governor.
“Our campaign will go through 270 wards that’s where our votes will come from. My politics is based on issue and I don’t insult people in the course of my politicking.
“Those that said I have not done anything in Delta state are locked up in Abuja, he maybe from Delta but locked up himself in Abuja.”
He urged all the political appointees to go back to their various units and wards, saying that they need to work harder now that PDP has its Vice Presidential candidate in Delta state.
Okowa said more responsibility is now on him as a vice presidential candidate, noting that he may not be regular at the various campaign because he will be going to other states.
In his remark, the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly and flag bearer of the party, Sheriff Oborevwori, thanked Okowa for standing and believing in him
Oborevwori said the party had come out stronger and united in the couple of weeks, pledging to uphold the lagacy of Okowa, who he said, had made his campaign easier based on his achievements.
He said Omo-Agege was the “worst” Deputy Senate President in the history of Nigeria.
