Deadly Stampede: Organizers Of Oyo Children Party Arrested

The Oyo State Government has confirmed the arrest of the organizers of a children’s Christmas party in Ibadan that led to the death of about 30 children.

The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan.

The party was organized by Queen Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, in partnership with Agidigbo 88.7 FM, owned by Oriyomi Hamzat.

A stampede broke out during the event, leaving multiple casualties and several injured.

Governor Seyi Makinde disclosed that the organizers are in custody as a thorough investigation begins.

He stated that security agents and medical personnel were deployed to the venue to restore order, provide treatment, and evacuate attendees. The event has been terminated to prevent further harm.

The state government has vowed to hold anyone connected to the tragedy accountable. Governor Makinde extended condolences to grieving families and assured the public of justice.
